ARTISTS INVITED TO ENTER 7TH ANNUAL JURIED EXHIBITION

Arts Council, College, Festival to Collaborate on June Show

GETTYSBURG, PA (January 25, 2010)—Artists throughout the mid-Atlantic region are invited to submit works into the Adams County Arts Council’s 7th Annual Juried Art Exhibition, being planned in partnership with Schmucker Art Gallery, Gettysburg College, and the Gettysburg Festival, June 18-27, 2010.

“Thanks to the dynamic affiliation with Gettysburg College and Gettysburg Festival, which began in 2009, the exhibit is quickly gaining a regional reputation as a competitive, quality show,” said Adams County Arts Council Executive Director Christina Glatfelter.  “Artists’ works are showcased within prime gallery space—Schmucker Art Gallery—and featured within an award-winning cultural arts festival—Gettysburg Festival.”

Any person over the age of 18 who is an Adams County resident or an Arts Council member is eligible to submit work for consideration by juror Gerald Ross, Director of Exhibitions, Maryland Institute College of Art.  Ross, a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute’s School of Painting and a Yale painting scholar, has worked as a preparator for exhibits at Walters Art Museum, Baltimore; the Phillips Collection, Washington, DC; The Hirschorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, DC; The National Gallery, Washington, DC; and The American Craft Museum, New York.  He has also garnered five major art awards for murals created in Baltimore and Hagerstown, Maryland.

There is a $25 entry fee and the deadline for submission is April 9.  Awards include:
