At the All American Brass Picnic and Culinary Food Fair

The Spires Brass Band was organized in 1993 to enrich the cultural life of the Frederick, Maryland area. The band accomplishes this by performing traditional and contemporary brass band music in accord with the highest standards of excellence. Directed by John Slezak, the band annually performs in the Frederick area at formal concerts, hymn concerts, civic functions, The Gettysburg Festival, and competes in the North American Brass Band Championships. Highlights of the band’s history include a performance on the Today Show with Willard Scott, and three Championships, two Second Place finishes, one Third Place finish and one Fourth Place at NABBA.
