The Sorcerer
Philadelphia Gilbert & Sullivan Union - Philadelphia, PA
Wednesday, June 23, 2010
Gilbert & Sullivan’s first full-length, intact collaborative effort, The Sorcerer started it all by ensuring that everyone finds their love and lives happily ever after by the end of the opera. Brought to us by the Philadelphia Gilbert & Sullivan Union, the troupe was formed in 2007 to recruit talented performers from the numerous Gilbert & Sullivan performing groups in the greater Philadelphia area.
They routinely perform at the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton, United Kingdom.
With the help of a love potion and a magician, an English aristocrat, tries to strengthen the love of his fiancée. Chaos ensues as the potion actually creates all sorts of unlikely love interests among the villagers. The spell is only broken as the magician descends into Hades to join his master.
Presented by The Gettysburg Festival in collaboration with the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival
