Ruth Vincent - The Savoy Princess
Elise Curran
Thursday, June 24, 2010
Join coloratura soprano, Elise Curran, as she explores the life and music of Ruth Vincent, known as the Savoy Princess. Ruth Vincent was a member of the D’Oyly Carte Opera Co. in the late 19th Century and performed soprano roles for revivals of Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic operas, such as The Gondoliers, The Sorcerer and HMS Pinafore.
She left D’Oyly Carte in a snip after being passed over for the leading soprano role in The Rose of Persia – a true diva.
Elise Curran is well known in Gilbert & Sullivan circles. She often performs in and directs Gilbert & Sullivan productions in Orlando, Florida and is a frequent Fringe performer at the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton, UK.
