The Pirates of Penzance

Festival Youth Production

Friday, June 25, 2010

See our local children and youth bring this beloved classic Gilbert & Sullivan show about pirates, young maidens, a Major General and bumbling policemen to life. Featuring over 50 young performers age 9 to 18 and directed by British director, John Savourin, The Pirates of Penzance is a delightful way to introduce your family to the music of Gilbert & Sullivan.

Young pirate Frederic has just turned 21 and is released from his obligation as an apprentice pirate to the flamboyant Pirate King. He quickly falls in love with the fair maiden, Mabel, only to learn that his birthday is on February 29 – Leap Year – and he must return to his duty as a pirate for another 60 years!

See how Frederic resolves his problem in classic Gilbert & Sullivan style!

This production will also be presented on Friday, June 25, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 26, at 10:30 a.m.

Presented by The Gettysburg Festival in collaboration with the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival
