The Story of Gilbert & Sullivan

Lamplighters Music Theatre, San Francisco

Sunday, June 20, 2010

There’s no better start to your journey through the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival program than learning about the story behind the two men themselves. Described as “oil and vinegar,” Sullivan’s sweet music combined with Gilbert’s acerbic lyrical wit made an unbeatable combination.

The Story of Gilbert & Sullivan is masterfully told by the Lamplighters through dialogue taken from actual diary entries, letters and interviews infused with music to illustrate the combined genius of these two Victorian-era gentlemen.

The Lamplighters Music Theatre in San Francisco has been producing the finest in operetta and musical theatre since 1952. They have received critical acclaim from the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton, UK and awards from the Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle.

What a wonderful way to introduce your family, especially children, to the wonders of Gilbert & Sullivan!
