“History Meets the Arts Weekend” merges a 12-year Gettysburg arts festival with the kickoff of The Gettysburg Festival for 2010! Events include gallery exhibits featuring masterful paintings and exquisite sculpture, opportunities to meet world-renown artists, artist demonstrations and much more. History Meets the Arts is known as “the largest gathering of historical artists in the country.”
Historical art abounds throughout Gettysburg’s distinctive galleries, showcasing French/Indian, Frontier, Revolutionary, World War I and II, and of course Civil War art. Admission is free to all events except the Friday night Edible Art Tour, the Festival’s culinary kickoff event.
Participating galleries include:
- American Civil War Museum/Gettysburg Gift Center, 297 Steinwehr Avenue
- Brafferton Inn, 44 York Street
- Lincoln Into Art Gallery, 329 Baltimore Street
- Lord Nelson’s Gallery, 27 Chambersburg Street with a satellite gallery location at Gettysburg Fire Hall, 35 North Stratton Street
