American Folk Music encompasses a wide range of musical styles that either developed in the United States, or emmigrated to the United States and further evolved to the point where the music was considered distinctly new and “Americanized.” American Folk Music includes Bluegrass, Country, Gospel, Appalachian, Blues, Cajun and Native American Music, and has had a far-reaching effect on many popular musical styles today including Jazz and Rock and Roll.
