Perhaps the oldest form of musical expression is that of the human voice. American Choral music as we know and experience it today--be it sacred ensembles of our favorite religious institutions or the secular tones of our civic and academic institutions such as college choirs, glee clubs, large or small, a cappella or accompanied—is an art form nearly every one of us has either participated in or enjoyed from the audience. Choral music is one of the “team sports” in the arts.
The Gettysburg Festival~Celebrating America explores the classic American literature of Copland, Bernstein, Barber, Fine, traditional American Folksongs and selections from the American Musical Theater during its inaugural season featuring one of America’s most celebrated ensembles, The New York Choral Artists, under the legendary direction of Joseph Flummerfelt, Artistic Director for Choral Activities for The Gettysburg Festival.
Join The Gettysburg Festival as we lift our voices in song and celebrate “American Choral Classics.”
