“The Gettysburg Festival ~ Celebrating America” takes place against the historic backdrop of Historic Gettysburg, encouraging visitors to explore its charming streets and fascinating history.
Performance venues include
The Majestic Theater, 25 Carlisle Street, is home to many of The Gettysburg Festival’s highlight events including dance, music, orchestral and choral performances. This “crown jewel” of Historic Gettysburg was beautifully restored and reopened in November 2005, to its original 1925 Colonial Revival splendor. The theater, currently owned and operated by Gettysburg College, is located within a block of the heart of Gettysburg, Lincoln Square, and referred to as “the grandest small-town theater in America.”
The Historic Gettysburg Railroad Station, located directly next to The Majestic Theater, at 35 Carlisle Street, is best known as the railroad depot through which President Abraham Lincoln passed when he arrived in November 1863 to deliver his famous Gettysburg Address. The station recently underwent a nearly $3 million renovation and is one of downtown Gettysburg’s treasures. Several art exhibits will be housed in the station and its covered pavilion as part of The Gettysburg Festival.
Lincoln Square, in the heart of historic Gettysburg, contains four brick-lined quadrants and is pedestrian-friendly. Several concerts will take place on the square during The Gettysburg Festival. Unique shops and restaurants line the square and adjacent downtown streets.

The Gettysburg Festival will locate many of its outstanding musical, theatrical and children’s events on the beautiful campus of Gettysburg College. The Gettysburg Festival Main Stage will be located next to historic Pennsylvania Hall, the College’s main edifice with white brick, red roof and cupola in a picturesque and grassy area shaded by numerous trees. For many Main Stage events, festival-goers are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or lawn chairs. Gettysburg College is a highly-selective four-year residential college of liberal arts and sciences with approximately 2,600 students. The 200-acre campus is adjacent to Gettysburg National Military Park and was founded in 1832.
Additional Festival sites on campus include Schmucker Art Gallery and Kline Theater on the original quad to the south side of Pennsylvania Hall.

Christ Lutheran Church is located one-half block from the square at 44 Chambersburg Street in downtown Gettysburg. As the oldest continuously operating church in the borough it has been a participant and witness to the major historical events in this historic community. The recently rehabilitated church will open its doors during The Gettysburg Festival for several outstanding organ recitals. Christ Lutheran, featuring a recently refurbished pipe organ, is known for its outstanding acoustics. A member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), the church will be celebrating its 175th anniversary in 2010. Christ Lutheran, which is handicapped accessible, welcomes visitors at their 10:30 AM Sunday morning services.
