The Gettysburg Festival

AMERICAN ARTS, CULTURE & CUISINE
Many thanks to everyone who made the 2011 Festival a spectacular success: sponsors, Friends of the Festival, attendees, performers, artists, volunteers and staff. From the energetic a cappella group Straight No Chaser, to comedy legend Bob Newhart; from historical theater to an All-American Brass Picnic; from History Meets the Arts in downtown galleries to unique culinary events designed by a former White House chef, the 2011 Gettysburg Festival presented our historic town in a new and exciting light—through the arts.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Gettysburg Festival is a 10-day festival celebrating American arts, culture and cuisine.

More than 22,000 people attended the 2010 Festival, hailing from at least 30 states and the District of Columbia.

The Gettysburg Festival has presented more than 2,400 artists, musicians and performers over the past three years, including:

Classical: James Earl Jones, narrating A Lincoln Portrait accompanied by full orchestra; a live taping of the popular NPR show From the Top with host Christopher O’Riley
Culinary: Featuring about a dozen exquisite culinary experiences with oversight from Former White House Chef Walter Scheib; the Festival employs a farm-to-table philosophy in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and its PA Preferred program.
Dance: The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, resident company of Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center; modern dance powerhouse Philadanco
Jazz: Kevin Eubanks of Tonight Show fame; world-renowned guitarist/singer John Pizzarelli; the Brubeck Brothers Quartet
Brass: The critically-acclaimed Boston Brass; River City Brass Band; Gramercy Brass Orchestra of New York
The Gettysburg Festival is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization. One of our primary goals is to provide accessibility of the arts to all. Traditionally, more than half of the Festival’s events are free and open to the public.

Gettysburg, often referred to as a town located at the crossroads of history, is now poised at a cultural crossroads. This charming Civil War-era town, ideally situated in central Pennsylvania, is located within a day’s drive of 60% of the entire North American population. What better place than Gettysburg, an iconic place in American history, to celebrate American arts, culture and cuisine!
